Wait, Is Texas A&M not the same as texas?

Desmond Howard made a fairly large mistake on Tuesday night, not once but twice. In the pregame show for the Pointsetta Bowl they were doing a Bowl Game rundown and Howard talked about Cal and texas meeting up in the Holiday Bowl.

He didn't just misspeak, he actually thought that it was the longhorns. He went as far at to mention Aaron Ross and now-former horn, Jevon Snead, in the commentary.

Apparently no one filled him in on the mistake because he became a repeat offender in the half time show.

Yesterday he issued an "appology" when he was on the Budwiser Hot Seat.

Again, I think it is fairly obvious he didn't simply misspeak.

I guess that is what you get when you hire a former Buckeye.

Was it a Sign?

I got an email last night from my brother with two pictures that he had scanned from one of my mom's photo albums.

That is me with Ray Childress way back in the 2nd grade when I was a Cub Scout (I'm 3rd from the left with the sweet shoelaces). I think it was at a Ronald McDonald's House event that we went to. I completely forgot about that afternoon until I saw the pictures. I think I still have that hat (he signed it) somewhere at my parent's house.

I remember going to a two-story McDonald's on the way there and that I played a game where I won a couple of goldfish. They both died within a couple of days.

I also remember going into the room with the jersey on the wall. There were actually lots of Oilers jerseys on the walls but Childress was my favorite Oiler.

Sadly, the reasoning was a little different than you would think, as in it not having anything to do with A&M. You see, I had his Starting Lineup figurine, and it was my favorite one because I could position him next to a QB figurine and then shoot him with a rubber band and he would tackle the QB. I actually still have it.

As it turns out, the guy happens to be one of the greatest Aggie football players ever and I happened to turn out as one of the biggest Aggie football fans ever. I think it was a sign of things to come. A little foreshadowing.

The Vagabond

This is quite possibly the craziest story I've read in a long time.

Walk-on Ben Bitner moved out of his house following the 2005 Cotton Bowl in an effort to save some cash and for the next year and a half he lived where ever he could find a place to crash. He showered and washed his clothes in the team lockerroom.

You've got to love stuff like this. College football is so great.

Here's to Ben getting some more playing time in the near future.
