Following the departure of my favorite player Terrence Murphy in 2004 I went in search of a new player to stake claim to as my boy. After the 2005 Texas State game, our third contest of the season, I realized that our freshman punter was averaging over 47 yards/punt and my seach came to an end.
In the big scheme of things punters don't really get a tremendous amount of love but in a sport that cherishes field position, the punter is often the unsung hero who saves an offense that can't get a drive going.
Pre-Texas A&M
The 6'-3", 218 lb. punter came to Texas A&M from Sealy High School where he played QB and TE as well as handling his punting duties. He was a two time All-State selection as a punter and was one of the top punting recruits in the state.2005 - Freshman

Freshman Record
- Highest punting average in A&M history by a Freshman with 43.2 yards per punt
Single Game
- 4th longest punt in school history -- 80 yards @Colorado October 8th, 2005
Single Season
- 3rd highest punting average in A&M history in 2006 with an average of 44.3 yards per punt
- 9th highest punting average in A&M history in 2005 with an average of 43.2 yards per punt
All-Time
- It's tough to crack school punting records when Shane Lechler holds several spots on the same list. However, his average of 43.79 is 0.9 yards behind Lechler's career punting average of 44.69. Justin's 96 career punts are just short of the 100 punts needed to qualify for the all-time school record but he should qualify within a game or two of the 2007 season and should move right into the #2 slot on the list
